Move Widgets across dashboards
Vasken Bakalian
I came across cases where we needed to split a single dashboard into 2 different dashboards.
For example 1) Financial Dashboard 2) Marketing Dashboard, where initially we had 1 single dashboard for both.
Not being able to move widgets, I had to create the same widgets with filters and all settings .. all over again.

Would love to see this actually. Jon Darbyshire
- Would love to be able to move any widget from a dashboard to another or from one tab to another within a dashboard because you can't drag and drop them to different tabs at this moment.
- Echoing that it would be good to just have all the settings stay the same and literally move over to different dashboards and tabs
- This could be something that happens often due to the fact that new dashboard items are added (new views) etc and so there are times when it's necessary for permissions to duplicate or create a new dashboard for permissions and different views.
For example: I have 5 client dashboards and if I add a new widget to one...I don't want to have to create it brand new for the other 4. I'd love to just "duplicate" and then "move" or even "duplicate and save in another dashboard/tab"

Great to hear your perspective, Vasken Bakalian! I have a few more questions for you:
- Can you provide more details about the types of widgets you are trying to move between dashboards?
- What specific features or settings do you want to retain when moving widgets between dashboards?
- How often do you find yourself needing to split a single dashboard into multiple ones?
Vasken Bakalian
Jon Darbyshire thanks!
- Nothing specific here since every case would be different.
The widgets I use the most are pie/donut charts, column/bar charts, Grid widget and comparison metrics..
- can't we have all settings retained? can't think of any setting that can stay outside. So it would be a complete copy-paste type of move.
- Has happened several times (probably multiple times for every project that relies on dashboards or has multiple dashboards), but now that Dashboards will be more used, this will be much more needed.
Similar to how we don't overthink where we create tables since moving them across solutions is smooth and easy, but that's not the case with widgets in dashboards ..
