Status Field: lowering status (custom conformation warning)

Would like some overwrite warning/conformation when you change the field status to a lower level of the development process. The warning box should allow a custom message reminding of consequences of changing status to lower level.)
The field status is a powerful field, it just seems too easy for a marginally informed person haphazardly changing it.
