Attach Generated Documents to Records

I would like to propose the ability to attach the generated documents directly to the record in the Document Designer module. Currently, we can only export the result as a PDF, but it would be extremely valuable if we could also have the option to automatically attach the document as a PDF or Word file to the respective record. This feature would streamline our workflow and ensure easy access to the documents within the context of the associated record.

Any updates? To expand on this idea.. How about implementing a URL endpoint that generates and serves the latest version of the document upon request. This ensures users always receive the most up-to-date version. Also it saves space in the database since it only has to store the static download URL. Not to say that this should replace the idea of storing the actual PDF file in the record (I love this idea), but it might be a good alternative option and easier to implement. I have seen it in other software.

Often a workflow starts via a request, so the requesting user could fill a form, this creates a record, notifies who must process this, and creates a PDF with the form data. As the workflow advances and different people participate, the information is updated and added; the PDF is updated too. Oftentimes it’s easier for humans to review a document than a grid or record. If the workflow requires authorizations throughout the cycle, the authorization signatures and timestamps can be added to and consulted on the PDF.
Smartsheet has this feature where you can upload a fillable PDF and though automation it is created and updated as the process evolves. The person(s) who have access to the record during the workflow can consult the PDF document in its current version.
I imagine one could create a template with document builder, and use an automations to create the PDF, the first time, and update it subsequently.

I could have sworn someone asked for this already but maybe it was just a comment/question in a webinar as I don't see it out there. 1000% agreed!

Yes! We need automated document generation so we can automatically forward invoices, work orders, etc. etc. that we've created in document designer.
Document designer is so close to being awesome!
