Dynamic Filtering Based on Lookup Field
Rosson Long
An update to this. Rather than focusing on Linked Records, could we just say that a filter can be based on a Formula (Fx) field and have Formula fields calculate in real time while a form is being filled out even if the Fx is based on parent records that are selected and lookup values from those parents?
It would require loading more data into RAM, but it would let us build
any
kind of filter we want out of the records.Jeremie Reese is one of my colleagues. We work together on many projects and I saw his request got pushed here so I'm putting the update here.

This request also goes back to a discussion we've had about loading form Fx in real time for Request for Quote Systems and sales teams wanting to see results like they would in a calculator without saving records over and over. I think this would be a pre-requisite to this feature being possible. (Having the Fx values and lookup values load and calculate live in RAM on the form).

Using a Lookup of a Linked Record as a Dynamic Filter

I would like to be able to use a Lookup of a Linked Record as a Dynamic Filter.
Example:
Letters represent tables. Arrows point from parent to child.
A -> B -> C <- D <- A
In table C we lookup B's linked A record.
Then, in table C we select a linked D record, filtered such that only D records where the linked A record is equal to our lookup from B show up.

This would be a really great improvement on the dynamic filter

I wish that the filter also allows linked records to be used to filter, not only a Lookup Field. If I am in Table A, and I am using a filter based on Linked Records from Table B, it is very common to filter them based on the current record in Table A that is being updated. Currently, the filter asks to manually enter the record. The choice should be dynamic, based on what record is being changed (or its lookup field).

I need this too!
