Email notifications from My Work when something is due

We're not getting email notifications when something is due. This should be basic functionality. We're moving some of our project work from Asana... or at least we were planning to. We can't expect every user in the company to log into SmartSuite every day and look at My Work to see if they happen to have something due.
Email notifications are a must!
Asana sends out a daily digest every morning of upcoming tasks due and tasks overdue. It'll remind you for a few days after it's overdue, then it'll drop off the list. It's simple and works beautifully. Asana also gives a user complete control of what they are notified about by project. See example screen shot.

This is seriously the reason we're still using Asana for tasks. I was just told by someone on my team here that's in ridiculous that SmartSuite doesn't provide email notifications when a task is due & that they are missing due dates because of it. This is super basic functionality.
I'm so surprised this enhancement request hasn't gotten attention. How are other companies that rolled this out seeing that their employees are actually remembering to do what's in their My Work section without email reminders?

I thought I was just missing some setting or something when I kept missing due dates, for items that I was responsible for completing or that I had assigned to myself. Currently I'm having to create task in a different system if I want to get a reminder and that seems completely backward, especially since not everyone makes it a habit to go and check the my work space every day (I'm guilty)
It would be really helpful to be able to set reminders and indicate how far in advance of the due date you'd like the reminder
Also if the item is passed due, I would like to be notified as well.
In addition it would be nice to be able to choose how you would like to receive the reminder notification. Push Notification for App/Web or Email
Another thought that would be cool is an Email Digest(daily)...that would show the overdue, today and upcoming sections of My Work, as Jeff Eusebio and Sam Uhr mentioned.

On the last "What's New" webinar, Jon said he hadn't heard of anyone requesting this 😟 and asked for suggested systems they could look at that do it well. Asana does it well!

with a daily or weekly digest of tasks can be a simple but effective way to promote clarity, efficiency, and collaboration in the workplace.
