Gmail Integrations: Send as Alias

BlackCars - Info
Gmail allows you to create additional aliases related to a single email address. https://support.google.com/domains/answer/9437157?hl=en
In both the communication center and the Send an Email automation action, it would be very beneficial to be able to utilize these aliases rather than having to create separate accounts for each one.

Yes, alias are very helpful for smaller teams and if you want the public to email you without sharing personal business emails that can help with limiting spam. We have them for programs, but want them to go into the same inbox.

Hey BlackCars - Info, thanks for your feedback! Following up on this:
- Can you provide more details on how you currently use aliases in your email communications?
- What specific benefits do you anticipate from having the ability to use aliases in the communication center and email automation?
- Are there any specific features or functionalities related to aliases that you would like to see implemented?

Hi Jon Darbyshire,
Thank you for looking into this for us.
Aliases save us money and make our work easier.
We use them in Google Workspace for main comms channels, and for useful temporary ones too. They are essential to how we work daily and in reducing subscription costs.
COST SAVING:
One person can have additional email addresses for different purposes, without creating and paying for multiple separate accounts/subscriptions for each email address.
For example, two of our main email addresses are currently aliases. Info@ and Admin@.
We have a member of our team who handles all our emails sent to info@.
They have their own primary paid for subscription/account e.g. Juanita@ that they sign into.
Within their Juanita@ account, they have an alias which is just another email address that Juanita can use to send and received emails that appear in the same space as the Juanita@ emails as well.
This allows Juanita to manage both Juanita@ and info@ in a central location, and for the cost of one and not two email addresses/subscriptions.
TEMPORARY EMAIL ADDRESSES:
Organisations of every size use aliases for reasons not dissimilar to ours, including for throwaway email addresses for various reasons like one-time promotions (e.g. newyear2025@) and specific projects (e.g. projectname@) that exist only for duration of the promo or project.
They can also be used to maintain a user’s privacy when they do not wish to give out their primary email address.
MANAGING EMAILS:
Juanita monitors one inbox containing both juanita@ and info@ without having to switch between multiple accounts.
She can opt to send or reply from either address at any time.
Emails arrive from either address into the same space.
Juanita can open an email from either address and opt to reply or forward from either the address it was originally sent to, or from any primary or alias email addresses available to her in the one account.
REQUEST FOR SMARTSUITE:
We like to be able to manage emails in Communication Center by being able to have our main and alias addresses available to send or reply from.
And we would also like it if emails sent to aliases also appeared in Communication Center.
IMPLEMENTATION:
Signing into your Google account in SmartSuite would make your main and alias addresses available to use in Communication Center and email automations.
Aliases would be functionally identical to normal email addresses in SmartSmart.
NOTE:
Something to keep in mind about aliases that could be helpful looking into this.
Since Aliases are created from within a user’s primary account, they are not an actual Google account.
You cannot sign into them as with a Google Account. They reside within a Google Account.
This means Juanita cannot sign into info@ because it is not an actual account. It is just an alias email addresses that is inside and accessed from the primary account.
Juanita always has to sign into her primary Juanita@ account to access or send from info@ and any other aliases she may have.
