Integrations: Add a Make.com connector
complete
Peter Novosel
Make.com is a service that allows for the integration of multiple tools in one single platform. They offer thousands of ready-made app integrations, connections to any online app, and no-code configuration. It would be ideal to have a pre-configured SmartSuite connection to Make so that it is easy to configure these connections, either triggering updates in SmartSuite or reacting to the state of information contained in SmartSuite and updated external tools and systems.
Adding Make.com as an integration option significantly expands your access to external data and provides Solution Managers a powerful tool to create complex business workflows. Make's capabilities include branching logic, scripting, access to thousands of pre-built connectors to existing services, and an intuitive visual workflow designer that makes it easy to design any workflow.
Marketing teams could use Make.com to evaluate campaign records in SmartSuite, sending data to email marketing and social media sites. Businesses of all types could benefit from connections to eCommerce and accounting platforms, performing a series of steps to create invoices, initiate returns or credit a customer account. Program managers might use Make.com to update external calendars, integrate with time tracking systems, and coordinate every aspect of a project that involves multiple systems to ensure that resources, teams and timelines are coordinated.

Any update on when Make will make the scenarios and SmartSuite connection generally available?

This feature has been completed and we are awaiting final approval from Make.com, before they will promote SmartSuite within their product. However, you can use the link below to access this now if you are eager to start using this new connector. We expect the formal approval to happen one day next week.

Jon Darbyshire: Hi Jon, thanks for make this happen. It's a huge upgrade. Do you plan to extend the actions and triggers? Especially "search records" would be very helpful.
Jon Darbyshire
Kai Dickas: Yes, we are working on search (find) now and will release as soon as it is done. Our goal was to first get the basics done and approved by the Make team and then continue to add additional features. If there is anything else besides Search that you are wanting in the short-term, please let us know and we will jump on it.

Jon Darbyshire: congrats to you and the team! This is such a great addition to the SmartSuite product!
Jon Darbyshire
Benjamin Bachman: Thanks Benjamin. Lots of people have been awaiting on this and happy we were able to get this released. As you start using this, please share your thoughts on what we need to add or do better.

Jon Darbyshire: Hey Jon, I think the addition of upserting a record would also be great (like Airtable).
Steven Cornelis
Jon Darbyshire: And also a trigger based on conditions/view would be awesome
Jon Darbyshire
Steven Cornelis: We spoke about this addition today and we will have someone working on this in about a week.

Jon Darbyshire: Hi Jon, as always: thanks a lot for the ongoing support. I agree with Steven Cornelis about "upsert a record" and "trigger by entering a view / match conditions".
For my use cases "search records" is always needed. For example I like to build my CRM in SmartSuite and would like to sync it with my google contacts. But before I add a new record i like to check (search) if the contact already exists in SmartSuite.

Jon Darbyshire: Hi Jon, I've been using the Make integration for the last weeks and I'm very happy with it. Great job! I used to work with Make + Airtable and I've been missing the following things in comparison to working with Airtable:
(1) "Search Records" is a must have for many scenarios.
(2) "Retrieve a Record" would also be useful. This can be done relatively easy with the API module but a separate module would make things easier for beginners.
(3) When something is added to a linked record field that doesn't exist in the other table, Airtable creates a new record. This makes scenarios a lot easier and shorter because you don't need to first check if records exist and create if/then conditions (routers). I'm also missing this feature when importing csv files.
(4) A combined create/update module based if provided a record id is also handy. Airtable calls this "Upsert".
