Mirror Fields in Records
Ara Bozadjian
Now that we can show/hide Sections in Records based on Rules, I'd like to have the ability to Mirror Fields within a Record.
So not a Duplicate of that Field but more like a LookUp Field within a Record where either instance can be edited.
Case
In a Video Production project:
The Script would live in a SmartDoc Field within a PRE PRODUCTION Section.
After the video has been shot we would change the Status to POST PRODUCTION and ideally hide the PRE PRODUCTION Section but the Editor would still need to see the Script. This could work for any Field type.

Thank you for posting, Ara Bozadjian! I have a few more questions for you:
- Can you provide more examples of fields that you would like to mirror within a record?
- What would be the ideal behavior if one instance of the mirrored field is edited? Should the changes reflect in the other instance immediately?
- Are there any specific conditions or rules that should trigger the mirroring of fields?

Sure, ideal scenario:
- can see a case for every Field. But definitely Link, Checklist and Linked Record for our case.
- yup real time. Assuming it is reflected for other users as usual based on the Field; SmartDoc = Real time, Checklist = when Saved.
- can only speak for our use case, it's just come up as we are trying to capitalise on the the introduction of 'Set Visibility Conditions' - for us, the mirroring of Fields would be manually part of the setup AND only visible in Record View. :)
Another instance of this we've come across is with Linked Record. Would be amazing if each Mirrored instance could also have it's own Field Settings:
Again, in Video Production, I have a SERIES with EPISODES with DELIVERABLES.
I'd like to Mirror my EPISODES Linked Record in the SERIES Record and have different Fields with different Sort.
Mirror 1 [Pre Production] » Shoot Date ⬇, Talent, Location
Mirror 2 [Post Production] » Release Date ⬇, Edit Stage

Jon Darbyshire further investigating this and alternative options on our end. Have found that what we are REALLY looking for here is more Design options only in the Expanded/Open Record layout.
So ideal scenario would be to have the option to add a New Field OR a View of an existing Field.
This would mainly be useful for Linked Tables as there are so many combinations of Display Formats with Fields and Sorting.
And this is your own fault, for making the Linked Tables feature so amazing!
