I use card views (Kanban and Card) a lot, I find it a great way to catalogue items and projects, as well as track the status of project items. However, the current layouts waste a lot of space, making the cards larger than they need to be:
Remove Dead Space
There is a lot of wasted space in the cards. I see there is another request to have the ability to remove field names, which would be great, but other issues include:
  • Huge amount of space between the title and the first field.
  • Larger than necessary left and right indent.
  • Larger than necessary line spacing above and below.
  • Tags have an unnecessary amount of space between the hashtag and the label.
  • Tags are forced to display in a bubble with a lot of spacing.
  • The hashtag in tags sits higher than the label.
My attached image shows how an example card currently looks and then an ideal alternative.
Allow users to set card size by pixels or percentage
The card sizes are arbitrary and change size when the browser window changes, but in a way that I cannot predict. Just now, the card size wouldn't change to large from medium until I resized m window, and my small cards in one view have now become the same size as medium in another. Allowing users to set card size by pixels or percentage will address this.
