Open Attachment in New Window (or Tab)

Often, it is desirable to view an attached document while being able to continue working in SmartSuite to, for example, update other fields, perform data entry, etc. It would be useful to be able to control (cmd) click on the attachement and have it open in another window (or tab) so you could continue working in the record. Optionally, a toggle could be set for the field that would force this behavior when viewing attachments.

- Can you provide more details on the types of attachments you frequently work with?
- Are there specific tasks you often find yourself doing while viewing these attachments?
- Would you find it useful to have a setting that allows you to choose whether attachments open in a new window by default?

Jon Darbyshire Yes, my toggle reference was for just such a setting. We manage a lot of employee related documents. Because of the nature of today's technology, we get those documents in various shapes and sizes -- tyically pdf, jpg, or heic images which are often unnecessarily large. We're working through a workflow of receiving the files (uploads, emails, sms, etc) -- then inspecting the document for data that needs to be captured (eg candidate or employee name, issue date, expiration date, verifying the type and validity of the document) -- and then linking them to the other records. We would then like to automate a process where we may reduce the size/image/compression of the document. We're looking at moving the document into OneDrive and replacing the file with a link to make it easier to open the file as desired. We store images in SharePoint so are also watching that feature request.
