Following Freida's request, this feature is crucial for data analysis and could help simplify the Solution structure. We use this feature a lot in Airtable, for example, for analyzing spending on budget categories by year/month, etc. However, Airtable lacks a filter for pivot tables, so it would be nice if you could incorporate this as well. Then we can have one table for all payments, income, and expenses, with various categories and subcategories. The holy grail would be to have the ability to filter and also group/subgroup at least one axis. That would be a superpower pivot :)
For us i'ts not necessary to have it direct in dashboard view, but Pivot could be new kind of View itself.
To be honest I still wondering what is the best practise to analyse above without pivot..

Great to hear your perspective, Freida Rivera! I have a few more questions for you:
- Could you provide some examples of the data you would like to analyze using pivot tables?
- What specific features of pivot tables are you most interested in?
- How do you envision using pivot tables within the dashboard?

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out!
Examples of data I would like to analyze using pivot tables:
One example of the data I would like to analyze using pivot tables involves two single select fields: 'project classification' and 'R&D type', along with a third numeric field, 'estimated hours'. Through pivot tables, I aim to conduct summary analysis on this dataset. Specifically, I want to examine the distribution of estimated hours across different project classifications and R&D types. This would involve grouping the data by 'project classification' and then further subgrouping by 'R&D type', while aggregating the 'estimated hours' to understand the total workload associated with each combination of project classification and R&D type.
Specific features of pivot tables I am most interested in:
The features of pivot tables that I find particularly intriguing are their ability to dynamically organize and summarize data, facilitating easy exploration and analysis. Specifically, I am interested in utilizing pivot tables to group and subgroup data based on categorical variables such as 'project classification' and 'R&D type', and then perform aggregation functions like summing up the 'estimated hours' within these groupings. Additionally, the flexibility to customize the layout of the pivot table and apply filters for further insights is something I look forward to exploring.
Envisioned use of pivot tables within the dashboard:
I envision incorporating pivot tables within the dashboard to provide stakeholders with interactive and insightful data summaries/ reports. By leveraging pivot tables, I intend to present a comprehensive overview of the distribution of estimated hours across different project classifications and R&D types. Users will have the ability to dynamically explore this data by adjusting filters, drilling down into specific categories, and gaining deeper insights into resource allocation and project prioritization.
