Recurring Dates

It's possible to create recurring tasks by adding extra columns and using automations but it would be great if we were able to set recurring dates through the existing date column.
Examples:
Task a repeats every day:
Possible logic:
Create new item each day
Change item status to X each day
Push date by 1 day
Task repeats bi-weekly on Fridays
Note:
User is able to select week day, or number of days/weeks/months

This has been released with today's update. Here's a link to the community post with more details, along with a link to the help article detailing settings and additional use cases: https://community.smartsuite.com/product-updates-942voc3s/post/repeating-tasks-7jwWWYpCzlBRiqZ

Brian Dollen: That's great thanks 👍 for the next iteration I would suggest to also have repeating tasks "on schedule" (whether or not the previous one was completed) creating future repeating tasks. This is relevant for accurate workload planning.

Can we get an ETA on this feature? I'm waiting on this for a significant portion of my buildout. Thanks!

You can also do this with a combination formula and an automation. Create an additional field in the current record with the next activity date (Usually determined with a conditional formula). When you have completed the specific activity, say with a check box, this triggers an automation to create a new record and the next activity date is set as the current activity date. What this will not do is to allow you to see these over a period of time

We need to recur at the task. ClickUp's recurring feature is pretty nice. You can set it to recur every x days. Love this for reminders. High-tech way to nag myself.

Jon Kay: Yes I am really agree with you I need to find some thing like that on SmartSuite, that the record can repeat from Monday to Friday and that when you open the record you can see what was written the previous days.
In other words, that record appears on Mondays and Wednesdays and that every time I manually set it to complete (hypothetically I manually set the status to completed), it disappears from the sheet and reappears until the next Monday.

Looks like this isn't even in the "Planned" section yet or am I not reading this correctly? Would also love to see the ability to skip weekends in the recurring choices section when specific dates are set.

It would also be really cool if there was a display option that would summarize the recurrence. For example if you set a activity to recur every week on Monday, the cell would display something like "Weekly, Mon". That way you could eyeball dozens of recurring activities and double-check they are set up correctly. We have to change how often we follow up with clients all the time and having this would allow us to pivot and confirm much more quickly.

I agree! I think this feature will give employees, that would quickly get lost with automations, a quicker/easier way to set recurrences. Please put on development plan!

Is there an ETA on this? This is the primary feature I find lacking when considering moving all of my projects to SmartSuite. It’s been in the works since last year so hopefully soon?

Layla at ProcessDriven can you see if you can get this request further up the food chain, or get your audience to upvote this?

Absolutely! I know that Avi Hercenberg and Jon Darbyshire have this on their radar, too.
I'm right along side you in rooting for this Sharon Nolan. The workarounds work well, but it can certainly be made easier. Let's see if we can get others can join the bandwagon... 😉
