Time Field in Forms

Better time options in form view to compare with record view
Kaitlin Pierce
So the problem at hand is allowing an external stakeholder to report start and end times for an activity and/or a duration in a form view. I have tried each of the following:
- Using a "Duration" or "Time tracking" field: works beautifully in records, but neither are available for use in a related form view. They simply do not show up as options in the form builder.
- Using a "Date and time" field for start and end, then a formula for total time: Works beautifully in records, and the Date field shows up in the form... BUT the form does not allow Time entry alongside the Date like the Record version of the field does, so this does not work either.
- Using one "Date" field and two "Time" fields (one for start, one for end): This one works fine in the form, though it is less efficient than I like. However, the formula field does NOT like to calculate times without dates attached using any combination I've found yet, so now I end up with form inputs and no way to calculate the data I actually need.
I would love to see a solution to one or all three of these issues to ultimately increase our ability to collect data from those outside our workspace with SmartSuite forms without using external services.

Hello Kaitlin Pierce! I have a few more questions for you:
- Can you provide more details about the specific use case or scenarios where you need to collect start and end times for an activity?
- What is the frequency of these activities and the volume of data you expect to collect through these forms?
- Are there any other functionalities you would like to see in the form view that would help in data collection?

Hi Jon Darbyshire. It's actually the same form and use case as my other comment regarding option descriptions: Report Logs for students to submit data. Side note, I really love to use SmartSuite forms for Student use not just because they link directly to my SmartSuite workspace, but also because they embed in the Canvas LMS BEAUTIFULLY.
So my intention for these forms are as daily assignments for my students on rotations. The date/time issue came to my attention because I need them to report their hours completed as well as a few other details and I wanted to condense their assignment to a single form to increase their compliance with filling it out. In the record, as you know, a date field automatically can include the addition of a time, and the formula field assumes this inclusion as well. However, in the form view, only the date may be selected with no option for time in the same field. Duration and/or Time tracking fields cannot be brought into a form view currently, so those are not options. You CAN add two time fields and a date field to get the details, but then the formula options don't seem to accept a time isolated from a date, so you are stuck with manual calculation based on what I have tried so far. It is possible I'm missing an obvious solution here, but I would love to just be able to have the same format allowing simultaneous date and time entry in the form field and normal formulas on the backend.

I think this got solved just a week ago, as time fields now appear in my forms. Someone else should verify this.

Commenting to push even though its being worked on. Needed to create a form for time adjustments. Date field advises you can add a date with optional time but this does not work in forms. I have to work around t for now but please get this as quickly as possible.

Yes please. I use smartsuite form to capture staff's training attendance. A bit disappointed to know that the time field is not showing in the form. Otherwise would be a perfect solution for me.

We are using a form view to make it easy for the field techs to enter time in their timesheet. Currently can enter the date but there is no option for the actual time. We need the time option to be able to track time worked.

Just came across a need for this, so upvoted. Glad to see it is in progress.
